Carmel celebrated International Peace Day in the school premises

Jammu: Carmel Convent Hr. Sec. School, Kunjwani celebrated International Peace Day in the school premises. Mr. Baldev Singh Billawaria, District President, BJP, Jammu graced the occasion as the chief guest of the day. He was accorded a warm welcome by the Principal Sr. Maria Swati A.C. The programme commenced with a prayer service, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for peace and harmony in our country followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
The significance of the day was well depicted by the Carmelites holding placard bearing symbols of peace and harmony. They expressed their heart out by singing songs of peace and harmony. A speech on the topic “Peace for all” presented by Vartika Jamwal of std. VIII won every heart present. The colourful dances by the students fascinated the audience. The students performed their best in order to give the message “let peace prevail” through a well enacted mime act.
Under the ISA Project school conducted three day session on the topic Circle of Peace to lead the students to the Pathway Of Peace’ the programme commence with a PPT on different forms of Meditation of India and China. On the second day different competition like Poster Making, Banner Making, Poetry Writing and Symbol Making of India, China and Bangladesh. On the occasion of International Peace Day the programme conclude with the meditation session lead by teacher incharge Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, leading the students to a peaceful and calm atmosphere and making aware of how to obtain peace within one self.
Next came the distribution of certificates, medals and trophies by the chief guest where the students’ excellence in the fields of academics, cultural and co-curricular was recognized and honoured. The Prize Distribution Ceremony indeed proved to be a culmination of hard work, dedication and commitment of students, teachers and parents in unison.
In his riveting address the Chief Guest admired the spirit of participation exhibited by the students as it takes courage to fearlessly step out of one’s comfort zone and showcase one’s talents. He conveyed the message that “Peace cannot be begotten through worldly wealth instead it comes from within”. He also cited that if we are peaceful within, we will be peaceful with each other.
Sr. Maria Swati, School Principal, in her address highlighted that peace means the world of happiness and harmony without any bias. She also inspired the students to resolve to be better persons in their home and neighborhood so that the country can radiate peace. Thus the ripples of peace will vibrate within society from one another. The programme culminated with singing of the National Anthem.
